Borovetz Ski Resort is the oldest ski resort in Bulgaria which is quite popular for its prime position in the Rila Mountain (just under Moussala, the tallest peak on the Balkans), for its natural miracles and great historical and cultural heritage, such as the Rila Monastery and the Seven Rila Lakes. Iskar Lake National Reserve (with its 10,000 sq.m. under professional management) is situated nearby, providing all types of year-round sports and relaxation. Dolna Bania has a golf course and the biggest SPA of hot mineral water, and other golf courses are planned for development. The location is even more attractive because of the proximity of Sofia International airport under one hour drive away. The completion of a new highway towards Borovets will cut that transfer time by half. The long ski season with temperate climate and excellent snow record makes the resort a dream-come-true for the first-time skiers, and provides excitement for those with intermediate and advanced skills. Borovets regularly hosts serious competitions and test-runs. Restaurants of all kinds and ski-bars pepper the slopes – perfect for recharging and unwinding.
